Eric Van Lustbader takes on Jason Bourne after creator’s death
It was at a party in 1980 thrown by their mutual agent, Henry Morrison, that Eric Van Lustbader first encountered Robert Ludlum, who was sitting in a corner sipping a glass of whisky. Little did Van Lustbader suspect that one day he would inherit the fictional universe of Ludlum’s amnesiac assassin, Jason Bourne.
“No one was talking to him (Ludlum), no one wanted to approach him. He wasn’t an easy person to be friendly with. He wasn’t particularly sociable. He didn’t suffer fools and he didn’t like a lot of people.”
