Bourne’s scary new reality
Eric Van Lustbader has written and published 11 novels in the Jason Bourne series started by the late Robert Ludlum. However, the latest one frightens him more than anything else he’s ever written — partly because he believes US Republicans are underestimating recent activity attributed to Russian authorities.
During a lengthy chat from his New York home, Van Lustbader explains that although The Bourne Initiative is fiction, the plot echoes current events, including global cyber threats and political intrigue associated with Russia and the US.
